Conventional thinking isn't thinking at all, but a collection of cliches and opinions gathered from parental pronouncments, standardized calssroom textbooks and teachers' attitudes, and the audio-visual input from pulpit, mass media, and friends of like mind. The net effect of conventional thinking's acceptance of dubious "truths" is a blocking of the idea of mystery and of it's pursuit. Conventional thinking is a lazy mind's way of just getting by, of buying into the propaganda presented to it by those who discourage original ideas and skeptical examination. Conventional thinkers are easely swayed by commercial and political advertising, by the messages of hate groups who appeal to fear and claimed superiority, and by their own disordered survival urges.
